History

Legacy Credit Union

The charter for Legacy Credit Union, originally chartered District 7 Highway Credit Union, was issued in September of 1952. The credit union was originally established to serve the employees of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and their immediate families. In fact, Legacy Credit Union still proudly serves both these Select Employer groups today! Currently employees and their immediate family members of any of our Select Employer Groups are eligible for membership with Legacy Credit Union.

In 2011, District 7 moved out of the MoDOT building and in 2016 the name was changed. In 2021, Legacy Credit Union purchased its own building on the corner of Indiana and 32nd Street. Then, in 2024, Southwest Counties School Employees Credit Union and Neosho School Employees Credit Unions merged into Legacy Credit Union, expanding the field of membership, and growing into an even better credit union than it was before! With all the growth that Legacy has seen in the past, it brings much excitement to see where it will go in the future!
